Bonjour à tous!
Thanks to all of your support, our little company has survived its first year! Our first two wines arrived December 1, 2017, launching an adventure that has connected us to passionate winemakers and wine lovers from Burgundy to the San Francisco Bay Area.
In twelve months, we’ve grown from working with one winery to five and from offering two unique wines to eight. Our wine club now has many happy members! We’ve only been able to do this because of your support, and we hope our wines continue to bring you as much joy as offering them to you has brought to us.
We’ve learned a lot about timing and efficiently bringing in our wine from France to California. It’s still just the two of us doing all the phone calls, licensing, storage, wine tastings, and deliveries – hundreds of hours in Bay Area traffic.
This hands-on approach has kept us close to you, our customers, and it has allowed us to slowly expand. During our first year, we shipped in eight pallets of wine (almost 4,000 bottles!).
Next year, we will continue to support more small, family-owned wineries in Burgundy by connecting you with a greater variety of incredible French wine.
In January 2019, we will receive two news wines from Burgundy.
The Pinot Noir from the Domaine Coteaux des Margots will strengthen our red wine program. Aged in French oak for 9 months – this blend of 4 and 40-year old vineyards is a very intense and complex pinot. This is the fourth wine we are offering from Paul’s Family. where Pierre-Julien, Paul’s brother is now working full time on the estate with their dad Jean Luc. He will take over the winery in the next few years and continue the family tradition.
We are also happy to introduce our first Cru, a Pouilly-Fuissé. This world-famous, rich, and complex Chardonnay from the south of Burgundy hails from the Domaine Thierry Drouin. It will change your perception of what an oaky chardonnay can be. The wine, which is distinct from our current Chardonnay offering and from a California Chardonnay – demonstrates the diversity of our favorite varietal. Our friend, Charles, runs the winery with his father. Our cofounder, Paul and Charles studied wine production together in southern Burgundy.
Thanks again to all our supporters, and a special thanks to everyone who signed up for our wine club! You make Pierreclos Imports a little bigger and better every day. We hope to keep making you happy and bringing you great new wines. You are very special to us.
Pierreclos Imports wishes you happy holidays and a fantastic new year.
Wine is all about sharing a good time with people you love!
